Meet Our Founder
Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption Founder, Judy Price
Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption (APRA) was founded in 2000 by Judy Price whose love of animals is in her DNA. Judy had many careers, including flight attendant and attorney, but her true calling has always been saving the lives of homeless dogs and cats.
Now she spends her days traveling to other shelters and animal control facilities throughout Georgia to identify those animals that have the best chance for a second chance. In 2007, Judy received an 11Alive Community Service Award for her efforts. Today, more than 14,000 dogs and cats – and their new owners – are very grateful to Judy and the staff and volunteers of APRA.
Most rescue operations don’t outlive those who start them, but Judy is on a mission to ensure that APRA’s legacy lasts. While some of the animals we rescue have suffered terrible abuse and neglect, APRA is the place where they’re transformed into the pets they were meant to be.
“When you open your heart and home to an adopted pet, you not only save a life but find an abundance of love.”
– Judy Price, Founder and Executive Director
